Budapest Trams Bring Christmas Cheer
Since 6 December, the second Sunday of Advent, some of the BKV trams are clad in special Christmas decorations. Passengers can enjoy the Christmas mood on both Pest and Buda side: the trams number 2 and 19 have been chosen for decoration this year. These so called “LightTrams” complement the beauty of the decorated and lit up city for the 5th time now, as it is now a tradition to decorate trams as well with the coming of Christmas.

Although at first only tram 2 was decorated, the imitative was so well received- by the passengers that BKV was encouraged to adorn more trams with Christmas decorations.

These trams are quite flashy, wrapped in 3.5km long light garlands on which 39,200 white and blue LEDs shine, while the inside of the trams are also filled with Christmas decoration.

The best thing about these trams is that you don’t have to pay any extra money for the special ride, you can enjoy the Christmas mood on these trams for the same price you would ride other BKV trams.
