Vodafone Hungary's 98.3% 3G Coverage Paves Way For The Internet Of Machines
“Vodafone Hungary has increased its 3G mobile internet coverage to 98.3%, reaffirming its leading role in mobile internet services,” the company’s chief executive Diego Massidda Announced Monday. He added that Vodafone’s broadband coverage was already exceptionally large in comparison to both Europe as well as the entirety of the Vodafone Group.

An outstanding network is not a goal but a tool to supply even more customers with even better services utilizing mobile technology. This is the basis of successful ventures, like gaining ground in the state infrastructural sector or a breakthroughs on the M2M market.

Vodafone Hungary increased its broadband internet coverage to 98.3%

Vodafone didn’t stop network developments after its extensive modernization project in 2012 and continued to upgrade its network in terms of coverage, speed and quality over the past two years. The company added 165 new base stations for country border towns, villages having a population of 1,000 or more, thus giving access to broadband mobile internet to over 430,000 residents. At the same time it doubled the nominal speed for nearly 500 base stations to 42 mbit/sec from 21mbit/sec. Through this upgrade, Vodafone increased the so-called HSPA+ service to 66% from 40% in its network, while also boosting indoor coverage through installing 200 new base stations. .

Nearly 30,000 public employees will start using Vodafone’s network within weeks

Vodafone Hungary was picked the winner for the public procurement supervisor’s “provision of mobile telecommunications services 2013” tender at the end of 2013 and will thereby supply over 640 state institutions for two years. The first contracts will be signed within days with partners like, NAV (tax authority), NISZ (national infrastructure service)., GYEMSZI (health service development), ORFK (national police), HM (defense ministry), the state treasury or the national ambulance service. Just the first round will bring 30,000 new users to Vodafone’s network

Vodafone is the number one M2M provider of the world

Access to fast mobile internet has become a basic requirement and as a result of the developments, our services are now available to practically everyone everywhere in the country. This is all the more important to further promote mobile internet use as well as to provide machine to machine (M2M) communication everywhere in the country.

The Analays Manson M2M Carrier Scorecard 2013 review published late 2013 shows Vodafone is the world’s leading M2M provider and has been for three years now. The survey covered the world’s leading telecoms for their M2M strategies, vision, organizational structure, customer service and other criteria.

Vodafone has been active for over 20 years in developing M2M services, or the “internet for objects”. It is currently providing services with partners such as Amazon, TomTom and BMW. With the latter, Vodafone has a contract that entails all new cars rolling off the assembly linebeing fitted with a Vodafone SIM card capable of managing the E-Call system and other multimedia contents. Just recently, Vodafone’s solutions were also picked up by Fiat, Jaguar and Audi, but M2M isn’t limited to the automotive industry.

Vodafone was the first in the world to introduce the global SIM and the associated GDSP = Global Data Support Platform solution, which is available in Hungary and serves as the basis for the cash register system connected to NAV servers, a project that is vital to invigorating Hungary’s M2M market. The same applies to the e-toll system, where thousands of tracking units sport Vodafone SIM cards. Vodafone’s role in implementing the e-toll system in Hungary was also acknowledged by the National Development Ministry through a commendation presented to Vodafone deputy CEO Gábor Piller.
