Moulin Rouge, Festival Theatre Budapest, 6 March
Following its highly successful ballet production of Les Préludes / The Wooden Prince, GG Dance Eger presents another expansive show. Tamás Topolánszky, the choreographer of this balletic fantasy based on the life of French painter and poster designer Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, has once again adopted a multi-disciplinary artistic approach, blending contemporary dance with elements of fine art and theatre, as well as modern computer graphics and video animation.

As a painter, Toulouse-Lautrec was a master of efficiently simplified forms, concise draughtsmanship and discerning colours. Both his art and his colourful but ultimately tragic life all but cry out to be translated into a dramatic dance performance of this kind, in which the sparkling Parisian nightlife of the second half of the 19th century and the unadulterated atmosphere of the Moulin Rouge provide the backdrop.
