OSCE: Fidesz Had “Undue” Advantage In Hungary
Fidesz enjoyed an “undue advantage” at the parliamentary elections, international election observers from the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) reported on Monday.

They told a press briefing in Budapest that the election had been basically well organised, eligible voters had ample opportunities to cast their ballot.

However, they said legal frameworks had been fundamentally changed to weaken the system of checks and balances, media coverage of the parties was biased towards Fidesz, and the government had blurred the distinction between party and state.

Ambassador Audrey Glover, head of the observer mission, noted that a growing number of business figures close to Fidesz are buying media outlets, while state advertising is directed to certain media, factors which serve to undermine media pluralism.
