Hungarians Leaving Country Rises By Half
The number of young Hungarians planning to either work or move abroad has risen by 50% since 2000, according to research published by the Central Statistical Office’s demography institute. About a third of young Hungarians do not plan their future in Hungary – or not exclusively, at any rate, according to the data provided by the Tárki research institute.

In 2001, 22% of 18-39 year-olds planned to work or live abroad. This had gone up to 34% by 2005, the KSH institute said.

They indicated Germany and Britain as the two main destinations for longer-term work or migration, followed by the United States and Austria, it said.
