Princeton Prof Knocks Hungary’s Fidesz 2/3 Vote
The Hungarian election process raises serious doubts regarding the validity of the election result, Princeton University professor Kim Lane Scheppele, one of the best known authorities on constitutional developments in Hungary, said Monday.

Scheppele offered a detailed election analysis with the help of Hungarians Miklós Bánkuti and Zoltán Réti. She concluded that Viktor Orbán received a clear mandate at the April parliamentary elections in the sense that his party won more votes than any other.

“However his two-thirds majority is illegitimate,” she said. “Orbán is clearly not supported by two-thirds of Hungarians; the election results are far from that; in reality the majority of voters did not vote for Fidesz, but for other parties or a party alliance.”
