Táncsics Prison Returned To Hungarian Ownership By USA
A building complex in Budapest’s Castle District including the former prison of 19th century writer and politician Mihály Táncsics, has been returned to Hungarian state ownership from US ownership as a result of a swap deal signed on Friday.

Under the agreement signed by the state asset management company’s (MNV) director Péter Márton and US charge d’affaires Andre Goodfriend, the ownership of the building complex in the castle district, a building in Budapest’s 12th district and another property in downtown Széchenyi embankment will be transferred by the US to Hungary in exchange for two newly renovated buildings next to the US embassy in Budapest.
