Hungarian Water Polo Team Loses To Serbia In The Final
The national Hungarian water polo team has suffered a huge defeat to Serbia in Fina’s World League Super Finals final match. Playing a match on the six consecutive day of the tournament the Hungarian team seemed to be tired and disoriented, two facets that the Serbian team did not show signals of.

The first quarter started well as it ended with 2-3 lead of the Serbian team. At this point the match had the atmosphere of a final, however the second quarter was devastating for the Hungarian team as the Serbian team scored four goals while the Hungarians could not score one ending up in 2-7 for the half. Following the match head coach Tibor Benedek said, that by the second half he knew that the Serbians cannot be beaten, this time.

The third quarter was led by the Serbians again winning it by 1-3 and setting the score at 3-10. The Hungarian team performed under its abilities, however the last quarter shows that the team is not hopeless for the upcoming European Championship, as the Hungarians won the last quarter by 3-0 reaching the final score of 6-10.

At the end of the match Benedek echoed that he has “always said that Serbia is the best team of the Super Finals”. Despite the disappointment of his players and the Hungarian audience, the coach soothed the public saying that they “have learnt a lot from the match” and the path to be walked for a successful European Championship is clear for the Hungarian coach.
