Freight Railway Plan Discussed For Central Hungary
Hungary’s trade chief Péter Szijjártó met with the China Development Bank’s director responsible for international cooperation Xu Chun Yang in Budapest on Friday to discuss financing for a freight railway to circumvent the city of Budapest, Szijjártó’s press secretary, Judit Fülöp, said.

Fülöp said that officials from the government of Hungary and the China Development Bank would meet again next week to discuss issues related to a feasibility study regarding the railway bypassing Budapest, which is expected to reduce the time it takes freight trains to traverse Hungary by one-quarter.

Fülöp said the railway was compatible with China’s concept of a new maritime and continental Silk Road.
