The committee surveyed public support for the applicant communities and established that their size and activities were “relatively low”, and suggested that their activities were of negligible public benefit. The committee also suggested that denying official church status to the applicants would not curb their freedoms of religious practice.

The final decision, however, is in the hands of the national assembly, which will vote on whether or not to accept the committee’s proposal or go against its position and grant the applicants official church status.
