Russian Embargo Costs Hungary Huf 70m A Day
The Russian embargo results in 70 million forints (EUR 223,000) lost revenues to Hungarian farmers daily, farm ministry state secretary István Nagy said on Friday.

Nagy told a press conference before the opening of a farmers’ expo in Hajdúböszörmény in northeast Hungary that the government had asked Brussels to increase a crisis fund from the current 400 million euros which would not be enough to compensate for the losses.

He asked Hungarian consumers to give preference to local goods.

Head of the farmers’ association Magosz and deputy speaker of parliament István Jakab also called for Hungarians joining forces and said that “those buying Hungarian produce are helping the survival of Hungarian farmers.”
