Ironman Triathlon Will Be Held In Budapest
An Ironman triathlon race will be held in Budapest on Saturday, organisers said on Thursday. The race will be composed of a 1.9 km swim, a 90 km bicycle ride and a 21.1 km run which distance translates into 70.3 miles athletes must complete. Dubbed Ironman Budapest 70.3, the August 23 event will be the official half-distance race of the world cup series organised in cooperation with the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC).

Budapest is the first Central Eastern European location in the history of the Ironman race series, Uwe Weigert, of WTC, told a press conference.

“The venue is perfect, I am convinced that the race will be a huge success,” he said.

Close to 2,000 professional and amateur sportspeople from 57 countries have entered the competition, 70% of whom are coming from abroad.
