Portuguese, Danish Victory In 1st Ever Budapest Ironman Triathlon
Portugal’s Bruno Pais triumphed in the men’s competition and Denmark’s Michelle Vesterby in the women’s competition at the Ironman triathlon race that Budapest hosted for the first time on Saturday. Hungary’s Erika Csomor and Anna Halász finished second and third in the women’s category.

The race was composed of a 1.9 km swim, a 90 km bicycle ride and a 21.1 km run which translates in distance into 70.3 miles.

Dubbed Ironman Budapest 70.3, Saturday’s event was an official half-distance race of the world cup series organised in cooperation with the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC).

Budapest is the first Central Eastern European location in the history of the Ironman race series.
