Budapest City Council Votes To Renew Metro Line
All three leading parties on Budapest city council voted to renovate the city’s third or “blue” metro line at an unscheduled meeting on Monday and to prepare to take out a loan to finance the project.

The council authorised public transport company BKV to invite bids for upgrading the metro carriages on the north-south Pest line.

Mayor István Tarlós said work on the carriages can start while the city talks with the cabinet on funding the renovation of the metro infrastructure.

Fidesz, the Socialist Party and Jobbik supported the proposal on upgrading the third metro line. Only the two Together-Dialogue representatives voted against it.
