Reducing Violent Crime Most Urgent Says Budapest Police Chief
Reducing violent crime, such as robberies and rowdy behaviour, drug-related crime and car theft are the most urgent tasks for Budapest police, the city’s police chief said in interviews published in Friday’s dailies Magyar Nemzet and Magyar Hírlap.

Gábor Bucsek - pictured on the right - told Magyar Hírlap that changes have been introduced to enable investigators to get to the crime scene before others without delay.

This frees regular patrols who can then stay in public areas and increase the sense of safety for law abiding citizens, he added.

He told Magyar Nemzet that there are no plans of restructuring, except that a department will specialise in drug related crimes and car theft from September and the investigation office will deal with fighting organised crime.
