Hungarian Film Fund: Support For Depardieu Film Open Issue
The Hungarian National Film Fund said that no decision had been made yet on granting support to an international co-production starring French actor Gerard Depardieu. The Fund denied information reported by Hollywood Reporter, according to which the Hungarianscripted WW1 drama entitled It’s Showtime, Siberia! is expecting 2 million dollars from Hungary’s Film Fund.

The article said an additional 1.9 million dollars would be granted in Hungarian tax credits.

The Film Fund told MTI that Filmservice Kft had submitted in late August a request for financing for the project but the Fund asked for additional information before making a decision.

Hollywood Reporter said the film to be shot on location in Hungary, Germany and Austria reprises the true story of one of the most successful Central European stage musicals, The Czardash Princess, that was re-created and performed by imprisoned soldiers in Siberian prisoner of war camps during WW1.

Depardieu is set to play a Russian prisoner of war commander.
