Draft Programme To Help Needy Govt Approved By Hungarian Govt
The government has approved a 29 billion forint draft (EUR 93m) programme to help the needy which has been forwarded to the European Commission, daily Magyar Hírlap said. Fully 85% of the programme is planned to be funded by the European Union.

It focuses on advising families with children under three years old, the homeless and old people with low pensions on ways to break out of poverty.

The first applications are planned to be invited early next year. Studies have shown that around 9% or 10% of people under 18 do not get food regularly, he added.

Social dialogue on the draft was completed on June 30, involving consultations with around 50 organisations and local councils whose proposals have been incorporated into the document.
