US May Send Ambassador To Hungary Before Year - End
André Goodfriend, charge d’affaires of the US embassy in Budapest, trusts that his country’s next ambassador to Hungary could arrive at their post before the end of 2014. In an interview published in Tuesday’s Magyar Hírlap, the diplomat said that the US Senate was currently dealing with over 50 ambassadorial appointments.

Delays in the procedure have nothing to do with Hungary, he added. President Barack Obama nominated Colleen Bradley Bell, a Los Angelesbased TV producer, to serve as next US Ambassador to Hungary in early November 2013.

Answering a question about his attending an anti-government demonstration in Budapest on Sunday, Goodfriend said that he had been present as an observer rather than as an active participant.
