Mexican Celebration Of ‘Day Of The Dead’, Budapest, 1 – 2 November
The Embassy of Mexico and the MÜSZI Cultural Centre cordially invites you to the traditional Mexican celebration of the 'Day Of The Dead' on the 1st and 2nd days of November, Saturday and Sunday.

Last year’s very popular event returns to MÜSZI! In the focus there is Mexico again, where instead of sorrow a plenty of laughter surrounds this holiday. Let us celebrate with them and learn about the Mexican traditions of these days.

Saturday, 1 November

Building of a traditional Mexican Altar of the Dead- dedicated to the Nobel laureate Mexican writer Octavio Paz, who was born 100 years ago.

18.00 hours: Inauguration of the altar, presentation of Adriana Lantos about the cult of the death in Mexico (in Spanish and Hungarian)

20.00 hours: Dance performance by Emilio Águila (Mex): Encounter between the movements deciphered from ancient Aztec codices with modern music. There is a chat session with the performer after the dance in Spanish with Hungarian translation

Sunday 2 November

18.00 hours: Traditions in Mexico around the Day of the Dead, the ethnograph, Márta Mihályfi’s talks with images. (In Hungarian and Spanish)

19.30 hours: Ceremony of the Day of the Dead with the Aztec Dance Circle. This Hungarian dance group was founded 13 years ago and acquired its knowledge about ritual dances from Mexican masters. After the ritual you can meet the group and learn more about their work as well as get closer to the symbols of the Mexican Altar of the Dead.
