Second Place For Hungary At Miss World 2014 Beauty Contest
Hungarian Edina Kulcsár came second at the finals of the Miss World 2014 beauty contest, held in London on Sunday. The title was won by 21-year-old South African Rolene Strauss, who had the crown put on her head by last year’s winner, Megan Young from the Philippines.

At the finals, which were held in London’s Excel events centre and saw the participants of contestants from 121 nations, the third place was grabbed by Elizabeth Safrit of the United States.

Ms. Kulcsár was named Miss Hungary at a domestic contest this June after both the jury and the audience found her the most attractive of applicants to the title. Born and raised in Budapest, the 23-year-old, who is 173 centimetres tall, has been working as a model for four years. Her present recognition is the highest-ever place achieved by a Hungarian at an international beauty contest.

The first place was awarded to South African medical student Rolene Strauss, who was also favoured by British bookmakers in her bid to win the title.

The international contest was held for the first time in 1951; the first time a Hungarian nominee participated was twenty-five years ago.
