Hungarian HírTV News Editor Departs
Katalin Mentes, chief editor of HírTV’s main news programme “Híradó”, is leaving the television channel after 12 years, it was confirmed to Origo on Tuesday.

The Pestisrácok blog cites HírTV staff as saying that editors are being tested to see whether they are ready to take sides in the media war waged by station owner Lajos Simicska against Viktor Orbán and Fidesz.

Last week the entire staff of the weekly documentary show “Célpont” resigned.

HírTV told Index that Mentes had left on March 1 by mutual consent.
