UNHCR Shocked By Hungarian Questionnaire
The UN High Commission for Human Rights office on Friday heavily criticised the Hungarian national consultation on immigration. Spokeswoman Cecile Pouilly said in Geneva that the content of the national consultation is “extremely biased” for suggesting a connection between migration and terrorism.

A Commission statement said “We are shocked by the Prime Minister’s introductory message which suggests a link between migration and terrorist attacks”.

It also expressed concern over the phrasing of some of the “suggestive, leading questions, which actively promote hostility toward migrants and risk spreading xenophobia within the country”.

Pouilly said “it is the government’s duty to fight against discrimination and xenophobia and by linking migration and terrorism it is doing the opposite,” adding “this is fundamentally discriminatory” and “these people are entitled to their human rights as much as anybody else”.
