Hungarian Trained World-Class Racehorse Overdose Dies
Hungarian-trained world-class racehorse Overdose died from a serious disease at the age of ten, the website pannoniaoverdose.hu reported. Overdose was considered to be the best horse to emerge from Hungary since the great Kincsem in the 1870s. It triumphed in all of its first 14 races and attracted purchase offers as high as 5 million euros.

Six years ago, the horse fell ill with laminitis, a chronic inflammation of the hoof, but it returned to racing in 2010. Overdose finished its racing career with a win in Rome in November 2011.

In the spring of 2014, the horse was moved to a training centre in Dunakeszi near Budapest to be used as a stallion for breeding.

It was later transferred to a stud farm at Lindenhof in Germany, where it died on Wednesday afternoon.
