Shop Assistant Stole Bank Card Details In Downtown Budapest
Police have launched a legal procedure against a shop assistant in central Budapest who used a homemade card reader to steal bank-card data as customers were paying for their purchases, the Budapest police force said. The 24-year-old man then used the data to make online purchases on 18 occasions in February and March this year, the BRFK said on its website.

The bank cards remained in the owners’ possession in every case and the cards were “read” remotely without their knowledge.

Police arrested the man on July 1 and the suspect made a confession in the course of questioning.
