Bigger Budget For Sziget Budapest
The Sziget Festival starts this week with an expanded budget that allows organisers to pay guest performers 30-40% more than last year, chief promoter Károly Gerendai told Népszabadság. This year’s budget is Ft 4.7 billion, up from Ft 3.7 billion last year. The most expensive performer is English singer Robbie Williams, who will be on stage on Monday, “Day Zero” before the six-day festival gets into full swing on Tuesday.

Weekly tickets cost Ft 72,000-80,000, while one-day tickets cost Ft 20,000 on Day Zero and Ft 18,000 thereafter.

The festival will be profitable if at least 415,000 guests visit, matching last year’s figure, Gerendai said.

Sponsors contribute 13% of the revenues, and onsite retailers and caterers 7-8%. The state subsidy is Ft 50 million.
