Video: Football Thugs Clash With Police In Budapest
Seeking a chance to fight with visiting Romania fans, a violent group of hard-core Hungarian football hooligans gathered and clashed with the police in Budapest’s city center last night. The police said on Friday morning that sixteen have been detained for truculence and vandalism and one additional fan was arrested for pushing over a police officer. The rambunctious hooligans threw petards, knocked over bins and damaged several cars parking on the streets.

Hungary’s national football team will face arch-rival Romania on Friday night in Budapest as the the two sides compete for a qualification place for EURO 2016 championship. Hungary’s overall record in 23 senior games against their neighbours is 10 wins, 7 draws and 6 losses, however, the last victory was achieved 34 years ago. Bernd Storck, Hungary’s newly-appointed German head coach said Hungary could win the game but he expects a tough game against a strong opponent.
