The renovated bell and lookout tower of Budapest’s famous Matthias Church in the castle district is now open to the public, the church’s priest said. The tower was only open for visits to the upper classes ever since it was built by Frigyes Schulek in 1894, László Süllei said. The church received ten million forints (EUR 32,000) from the City of Budapest in 2012 towards renovation costs and the work was completed in June this year, he said.
