See What Happened @ St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Winter had gone, spring in the air, and Irish eyes, Hungarian eyes, expats eyes, and everyone else’s eyes - including a lot of tourists - were smiling. Expats from the Emerald Isle - where it's said the little green fellows come from (leprechauns that is, not aliens) - gathered together with friendly locals to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Budapest once again: it was all very colourful, charming and fun, which, in my opinion, sums up this enchanting nation.

Now this has become what seems to be a national event. It was hard to tell who was who, as many different cultures got together to go on a parade through the city, led by two very tall men on stilts and driven by the glorious sound of bag pipers, with the lovely big Irish dogs in pursuit.

It all ended up at downtown Instant club, where parade participants enjoyed some tasty food, dancing and last but not least a drop of the dark stuff, which went down a treat, just as the rest of the day did.

It’s always a fab day in Hungary when the capital city goes green, all thanks to Irish expats in Budapest.
