Budapest Marijuana Demo Goes Up In Smoke
After an hour of delays, a few dozen peaceful protesters arrived in front of the Hungarian Parliament building last week as part of a protest to legalize marijuana consumption in Hungary. A speaker at the event said that the problem with society is that it has no interest in controlling its destiny, similar to the small circle of protesters at Kossuth tér. When questions were put forward to the crowd, very few were willing to participate, according to reports.

Far fewer people showed up at the demonstration than organizers expected. April 20, or 4/20, has become iconic among fans of cannabis culture and is celebrated around the world.

Organizers asked demonstrators not to smoke marijuana in front of the Parliament building, and no incidents have been reported.

Demonstrators did not hand in petitions or requests to MPs, but instead gathered peacefully on the square, some kicking around a ball, according to reports.
