International Schools' Poetry Recital At Britannica International School
On Monday,18 April Britannica welcomed students from the British International School, The American International School and The Christian International School who took part in its annual Poetry Recital Competition.

For the competition, students chose their favourite poem and memorised it, then performed to the audience using tone of voice and body movements to convey feelings and ideas from the poem; some students worked independently, whereas some preferred working as part of a group. Overall, 30 students performed 24 poems from a range of poets across several continents and centuries.

Everyone was very impressed with the entrants who interpreted a diverse range of poems to entertain the audience; the winners won medals and book tokens. At Britannica, all students in KS3 had an opportunity to perform within class as it is a fantastic exercise to build memory skills and explore poetry in a creative way.

“The poetry competition was very organised and was sophisticated. We practiced in the library which let our peers give us constructive criticism, which helped us at the competition. It was lots of fun and I would join next year.”

- Daniel Mueller, Year 7 student of Britannica International School
