FIFA Leader Calls For Help To Poor Coun Tries At UEFA Congress
The head of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) Gianni Infantino called for efforts to help poor countries at the Budapest congress of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). He said the 209 member countries would receive 5 million dollars each from FIFA in every four-year period and the six continental associations 40 million dollars each to finance their development programmes.

“If you do not need this money in Europe, then forward it to other associations, invest in projects there, so that the new FIFA could become the FIFA of solidarity.”

On behalf of the host country, state secretary for sport Tünde Szabó said that the development of soccer in Hungary has resulted from joint efforts that enjoyed the full support of the government.

She noted that Budapest was among the cities that compete for hosting the 2024 Olympic Summer Games.
