Video: Bill Clinton Says Hungary And Poland Want Putin-Like Regimes
President Bill Clinton made reference to Hungary in a speech delivered at a campaign event for his wife and presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton this past weekend.

“Poland and Hungary, two countries that would not be free but for the United States and the long Cold War, have now decided this democracy stuff is too much trouble. They want Putin-like leadership. Just give me a authoritarian dictatorship and keep the foreigners out. Sound familiar?” Clinton said.

Hungary’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade told news site hvg.hu that “no one, not even Bill Clinton himself, can permit themselves to insult Hungarians like this.”

According to the foreign ministry, “Hungary’s freedom was fought for by the Hungarian people. Tens of thousands of Hungarians gave their lives for the freedom of our homeland. To disrespect the Hungarians’ fight for freedom in this way is unacceptable. Even Bill Clinton knows that the Hungarian people decided about Hungary’s future in democratic parliamentary elections. It is possible that Bill Clinton disapproves of Hungarian people deciding the future of their homeland, but that does not give reason for the former president to insult the Hungarians.”

In 2014 President Clinton told Daily Show host Jon Stewart that Viktor Orbán wants to stay in power forever and make money.
