Justice Minister Holds Talks With US State Dept Official
Justice Minister László Trócsányi held talks with Sarah Sewall, the US State Department’s Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights, in Budapest. At the meeting, Trócsányi gave an outline of Hungary’s justice system, and the legal environment with a focus on the role and implementation of the country’s constitution, the justice ministry said in a statement.

Discussing the issue of media freedom, the minister said media pluralism and the freedom of expression were fully observed in Hungary. According to the statement, Hungary has settled every issue raised around its media law with the European Commission, the Council of Europe and its consultative body, the Venice Commission.

The sides agreed that Hungarian-US relations are comprehensive and serve as a firm basis for future cooperation. They added that any open issues could be settled through dialogue between the sides as allies, the ministry said.
