State Secretary: New Home Construction Up By 14% This Year
The number of new homes built could increase by 14% this year compared with last year, partly as a result of the government’s family home subsidies, Csaba Dömötör, a state secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office, told public news channel M1 on Friday. In addition, the number of homebuilding permits issued this year rose 2.5 fold compared with last year, he added.

The number of permits issued has grown in every county, not only in Budapest, he said.

More than 30,000 Hungarians have applied for the family home subsidies and the number is still growing, the state secretary said, adding that the real boom in applications is expected in 2017.
