Hollywood’s Greatest Composer James Newton Howard Concert, 17 November
James Newton Howard, the film score composer of numerous successful films including Pretty Woman and The Hunger Games, is coming to Budapest on 17 November 2017 as part of his first concert tour. In his concert the Grammy and Emmy Award-winning, Oscar nominated composer will celebrate Hollywood’s last three decades of film music.

Hollywood’s greatest composer, James Newton Howard, has announced that his international concert tour will make a stop in Budapest on November 5th, 2017, from 19:30 at the Papp Laszlo Budapest Sports Arena. The tour will stop at 20 cities throughout Europe, starting with a premiere at the Royal Albert Hall in London on November 3rd, 2017.

The Grammy and Emmy award-winning, Oscar nominated composer is internationally known and respected for his work in Pretty Woman, The Prince of Tides, The Sixth Sense, King Kong, and The Hunger Games, and is currently working on the film score for the newest addition to the Harry Potter film franchise: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. James Newton Howard’s music can be heard in more than 120 films, and his compositions are downloaded by many millions of people every month.

His song The Hanging Tree, performed in The Hunger Games by Jennifer Lawrence, achieved the number 2 position on the Billboard Hot 100 list.

In this tour he will be celebrating the last three decades of music for Hollywood with music, spoken word, and videos.
There will be more than one hundred performers onstage taking part in the show, and the symphony orchestra will be accompanied by a choir.

The tour will be accompanied by a fantastic light show, and the concert will be enhanced with projections of the most exciting scenes of many of the films he has worked on.

The organizers have promised a wonderful overall effect that will, as always, offer the Hungarian public with a quality production.

About James Newton Howard:

As a composer, musician and songwriter, he has experience in all the stages of moviemaking and has worked in all genres of film. He has received many awards in his career. He began studying music as a young child and later enrolled in the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California. Following this, he received his diploma as a pianist at the University of Southern California. In the late 1970s and early 1980s he toured with Elton John as a keyboardist. It was in the 1980s that he began working on film scores.

He truly became successful in the following decade, gaining recognition for his work in Pretty Woman in 1990 and The Prince of Tides in 1991, the latter earning him his first Oscar nomination. In the course of the decade he was nominated for two more Oscars with his work in The Fugitive (1993), My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997) and Unbreakable (2000). He later won the Academy Award for Best Original Score in 2005 for his composition in The Village (2004) and in 2008 for the score of Michael Clayton (2007).

In 2008 he became the Film Composer of the Year and was awarded the World Soundtrack Award for his work in Charlie Wilson’s War, Michael Clayton and I Am Legend.

In 2009 he won a Grammy for the film score of The Dark Knight, on which he collaborated with Hans Zimmer, and was later nominated for a Grammy for his work in Blood Diamond and his song in the film One Fine Day.

Howard continues to receive awards and recognition. He has received the ASCAP Henry Mancini Award for Lifetime Achievement as well as, this year, the BMI Lifetime Achievement Award.
