Now Showing In Budapest: 'Lion'
"A five-year-old Indian boy gets lost on the streets of Calcutta, thousands of kilometers from home. He survives many challenges before being adopted by a couple in Australia; 25 years later, he sets out to find his lost family."

Movie type: Drama - While half of the film focuses on the lead character as a young boy, this true life drama is aimed at an adult audience, for the film depicts the boy in various scenes of danger that may be too scary and intense for kids. That said, the inspirational message of the film may make most parents of pre-teens and up find this to be suitable viewing for their children. Of the recognizable faces in the cast, Dev Patel is the lead, with Nicole Kidman and Rooney Mara in supporting roles. There is also some alcohol and tobacco content and brief sensuality.

Director: Garth Davis

Script: Luke Davies

Starring: Saroo Brierley - Dev Patel, Lucy - Rooney Mara, Sue Brierley - Nicole Kidman, John Brierley - David Wenham

Length: 2 hr.

Rated: PG-13

Reviews:

James Berardinelli – ReelViews - Top Critic: ” Lion represents a commitment from those involved and, flaws aside, it's an amazing tale of resilience and determination.”

Richard Roeper - Chicago Sun-Times - Top Critic: ” Lion is a beautifully told, uplifting story of courage and determination.”

Stephanie Merry - Washington Post - Top Critic: ”Lion is a complex movie, with its profound themes of home and identity, and its tonally disparate halves. A smartly understated approach to Brierley's story holds it all together.”
