Torkos Thursday: Half-Price Dining Today
"Torkos" (literally Gluttonous) Thursday is a great opportunity to enjoy local food at half the usual price. 'Fat Thursday', as it is also known, is a traditional Catholic Christian feast marking the last Thursday before Lent, and is associated with Carnival celebrations.

Traditionally it is a day dedicated to eating, when people meet in their homes or in cafés with friends and relatives to eat large quantities of sweets, cakes and other meals usually not eaten during Lent.

This year the event is not organised by the Hungarian Tourism Board, and restaurants can individually decide if they wish to participate.
