Concerto Summer Nights, Courtyard Of Pest County Hall
Next concert on 29 June. Come and feel the music of Beethoven in a live performance under the summer night sky with Concerto Budapest Symphony Orchestra at a magical venue in the heart of Budapest. Open-air classical concerts in the Courtyard of Pest County Hall.

This year, Concerto Budapest’s by now traditional and highly atmospheric series of summer evening open-air concerts launches with a performance of two grandiose and marvellous Beethoven works: the Piano Concerto in B major composed in his mid-twenties and still showing signs of the influence of Haydn, plus the ‘Pastorale’ Symphony No. 6, evoking Beethoven’s “reminiscence of rural life”.

Soloist for the concerto is Mihály Berecz who although just 19 years old already has impressive concert-playing credentials. He was not even 16 when he performed Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G major under the baton of Zoltán Kocsis, while he has also appeared with Tamás Vásáry and György Vashegyi, not to mention, naturally, András Keller and Concerto Budapest: he was with them last autumn on World Music Day playing Ferenc Liszt’s Totentanz, to huge acclaim.

“Cheerful and thankful feelings after the storm.” This is how Beethoven annotated the final movement of the Pastorale symphony, and while we remain confident that the abovementioned ‘weather forecast’ will prove totally incorrect for this evening of music, still we are certain that feelings of joy and thanks will be aroused in many souls during this most promising of concerts.
