Budapestians Take On Worlds Toughest…
On 11 November Budapestians Daniel Kaali and Brody House Group co-founder William Clothier travel to the Nevada desert to compete in the World’s Toughest Mudder (WTM) Event - a gruelling 24-hour non-stop obstacle course race. Competitors race to complete as many of the specially designed 5-mile laps as possible in a 24-hour period.

Each 5-mile lap contains 20-30 challenging obstacles testing upper body strength, stamina, balance and timing. The desert conditions further add to the test with hot dehydrating conditions in the day and sub-zero temperatures at night.

The competition is the pinnacle event of the year in terms of world obstacle course racing - a relatively new sport that has rapidly grown in popularity in the last 10 years, the leading companies in the field being Tough Mudder and Spartan Race organisations, the latter holding events in Hungary.

Both Daniel and William have been early adopters of the sport and have competed in Spartan and Tough Mudder races in Europe and the USA over the last 5 years. In 2016 Daniel achieved 16 laps (80 miles) in the 2016 WTM, putting him in 17th place out of about 1,500 competitors.

In 2015 Daniel also won the Spartan Death Race, a mind boggling 3-day non-stop race in the Vermont mountains and the pinnacle of the Spartan Race portfolio.

British & American-Hungarian Budapestians, both William and Daniel will be waving the Budapest flag at the event, their adopted home city and training ground. They train primarily on Margaret Island and Normafa area and are very thankful for the renovated running tracks, night time lighting and outside gym stations that the city has implemented - highly recommended.

Wish them luck!
