"With inflation in Hungary somewhere between 7-9%, and restaurant prices noticeably rising, the good news is that the price for brunch at Le Bourbon, the elegant restaurant of Le Meridien Hotel, is exactly the same as it was one year ago: Ft6,900, which means the luxurious spread covering courses from breakfast to dinner and dessert is a better deal than ever."Of course, it’s not just the quantity that counts, but the quality, and there will be no disappointment on that front. There are all sorts of salads and appetizers, warm mains of meats and fish, fresh pastas and quiches, cheese selection, and a wall devoted to pastries and desserts, including freshly made palacsinta.
The salad of fresh mixed greens had no fewer than seven choices of dressing; on a recent visit we chose creamy avocado, adding chopped multicolored capsicum with Greek black olives, the delicious tabouleh with fresh coriander, some of the cold smoked fish variety, and a tranche of the whole salmon Bellevue style, stuffed with spinach and topped with thin slices of cucumber.
The mains offer something for everyone, but most delightful of all are the confections – on this occasion, a chestnut-mousse tart, an even lighter composition of anise-tinged turo, topped with a slice of plum and fresh sprigs of lemon-thyme, and the famous Royal chocolate cake – concealing a layer of chocolate mousse and a crisp surprise.
The reason for our visit was the first in an on-going series of contemporary art exhibitions in the Atrium. Until Sep 13, the photographs of Attila Baedecker Molnár follow the circle of the Atrium itself, and shows will change fortnightly.
Exhibitions are on view to both the guests of the hotel and restaurant, as well as the general public. More to come on the new international Unlock Art project of Le Meridien."
