"Home of the Balaton region flagship wine the Grey Friar of Badacsony (szürkebarát), Badacsony welcomes wine enthusiasts during the Wine Week held annually at the end of July and the beginning of August.In addition to wine tastings and a competiton to cook the Fisherman's Stew a la Balaton (balatoni halászlé), the organisers introduce visitors to the traditional past and the present of viniculture.
First and foremost visitors are given the opportunity to become familiar with the value of this wine region and its characteristic wines within the framework of the wine week.
In addition to the wine tastings, wine awareness sessions and drinking contests, folk dance events, folk and popular music concerts, cellar and product presentations are organised for visitors during the several-day event. The contest to prepare fisherman's stew is a highlight not only of the Badacsony series of events but a gastronomic highlight of the entire northern shore of Lake Balaton."
