Exploring Buildings In Hungary: Tourism And Cultural Centre, Szantód
"Awarded the Europa Nostra Award in 1995, the several hundred year-old building complex of the Szántódpuszta farmstead is a faithful guardian of Hungarian agricultural history. Displaying other treasures of culture and civilization as well, it provides an excellent opportunity for relaxation.

The farmhands' houses of the old manor's estate have been preserved and renovated. Visitors can find out about heritage of local history and the period furnishing of farmhands' houses. In the manor house built in 1716 paintings and statuettes related to the surrounding countryside are exhibited. The exhibition's material comes from the collection of the National Gallery.

The coach houses, cart sheds and stables also remain. The double-vaulted horse stable was built in 1846 for the famous English halfbred stud of Szántód. A little further on is the wine cellar.

The works of a former tenant, farming poet Ádám Pálóczi Horváth who lived on the plain, are on view in the old overseer's house.

Impressive items of lacework from neighbouring Balatonendréd are also on display. Children will be delighted by the colourful world of the aquariums and the various animals still bred and kept in the various pens and stables. The maize barn and the granary are both imposing buildings and there is an exhibition of folk arts and crafts in the latter. There is also a display about ferry history.

Built in 1735, the Baroque St Christopher Chapel stands on the top of the hill."
