'Glenn Miller', Budapest Railway Museum, 28 November
"The Glenn Miller Orchestra performs its best pieces in the Railway Museum, among the resting old steam engines, in a concert entitled “Swinging Christmas”. We are on track, or as Glenn himself would say: “Party at the station!”

Glenn Miller founded his own big band exactly 70 years ago, in 1938. Its unique sound − characterized by a clarinet treble that is heard an octave above the tenor saxophone – quickly created a real big band cult in the United States and beat all hit records. His unforgettable songs include “In the Mood”, “Pennsylvania 6-5000”, or the “Moonlight Serenade”…

On 11 February 1942 Glenn Miller received the first gold record of music history for “Chattanooga Choo Choo”. Since then his big band hit has been played in millions of versions. The song is about a young man who gets on an old train, called Chattanooga Choo Choo at a railway station in Pennsylvania to visit his lover in Tennessee."
