Hungary MOL Set to Take Fuels Prices Further Up
"Hungarian fuels group MOL will hike the price of gasoline and diesel by HUF 4 per litre on Wednesday, Portfolio.hu has learned. MOL upped the price of both fuel types in two steps by HUF 16 each in the past two weeks.

Portfolio.hu's has learned that MOL will raise the gross wholesale list price of both gasoline and diesel by HUF 4 per litre, respectively on Wednesday (17 June). As a result retailers will pay HUF 274.4 per litre for gasoline and HUF 252.9 per litre for diesel based on MOL list prices.

Although each petrol station has its own pricing model, drivers should expect to pay about HUF 4 more per litre for both motor fuels at the gas stations; around HUF 289-290 for gasoline and HUF 267-268 for diesel.

Last Friday's closing rates showed a mere 0.5% increase in the price of gasoline and a 1.2% uptick in the price of diesel in a week, as the forint's firming to the US dollar eroded the increase in USD terms (4.0% and 5%, respectively).

Last week's price changes therefore would not justify a hike, but gasoline and diesel rates have risen swiftly and markedly over the past months and there is probably some lag in MOL's pricing.

It happened a number of times before that MOL upped or cut its wholesale prices one or two weeks after world market prices had already settled. This is understandable, as the company does not track changes on a real-time basis."
