Hungary MOL To Up Diesel Price On Wednesday

Hungary MOL To Up Diesel Price On Wednesday
"Hungarian fuels group MOL will hike the price of diesel by HUF 3 per litre on Wednesday, while it will keep the price of gasoline unchanged, Portfolio.hu has learned.

Portfolio.hu's has learned that MOL will raise the gross wholesale list price of diesel by HUF 3 per litre on Wednesday (24 June). As a result retailers will pay HUF 255.9 per litre for diesel based on MOL list prices (and HUF 274.4 per litre for gasoline).

Although each petrol station has its own pricing model, drivers should expect to pay about HUF 3 more per litre diesel at the pumps; around HUF 289-290 for gasoline and HUF 270-271 for diesel.

The price increase comes as no surprise since last Friday's closing rates showed a 5% drop in the price of gasoline but a 1.7% uptick in the price of diesel in a week in USD terms. As the forint eased some to the greenback the change in HUF terms was a respective 4% drop and 2.7% increase.

As we can see, the long and intense rise in the price of gasoline has stopped last week, but diesel became slightly more expensive. Consequently, if oil and oil products rates do not go higher this week, MOL might even lower the price of gasoline and not hike the price of diesel further next week. Before we draw the final conclusion, however, we would wait for Friday's closing rates."
