Famous Architect Makovecz’s Structure To Be Auctioned Off
The Hungarian pavilion at the 1992 World Expo in Seville, a work by Hungary’s famous architect Imre Makovecz, will be offered for sale at auction for €3 million.

The Seville court overseeing the auction is accepting bids until the end of the month.

The owner of the building, the Zent group of companies, is in a winding-up procedure.

The pavilion – listed as an Andalusian heritage site – is burdened with debts. The bid price is 40% of the value of the debt.

The fate of the building considered one of the main spectacles at the 1992 World Expo, took a sad turn ten years ago. The museum that had been functioning inside the structure was closed by the owner, which was then bankrupted by Spain’s property market crisis.
