"Former prime minister Ferenc Gyurcsány wrote “first they found a guilty person… and are now searching for a crime” in a blog entitled “Scoundrels” on Thursday. “This is a grubby frame-up,” he added. On Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Gyurcsány wrote he “will go down in Hungarian history as a scoundrel, a luckless Richard III, who set a trap but was defeated”.
The Fidesz caucus said in a statement on Facebook on Friday that “Gyurcsány is concocting conspiracy theories about the Sukoró case and attempting to make himself a martyr at any cost”.
The statement added that Richard III’s character is more reminiscent of Gyurcsány than Orbán, “because the former premier proved again yesterday that he has a weak nervous system and is on the edge of madness”.
Socialist Party executive committee member Tibor Szanyi told reporters on Saturday that the Socialist Party supports all the former prime ministers “with all its weight” and firmly rejects Fidesz’s attempts to tarnish ex-government officials through the prosecutor’s office, which is “loyally serving these illusions”.
