Invitation: Sweet Days In Budapest, 20 - 22 September
Hungary's annual festival of chocolate and sweets will be held for at Millenáris in Buda, this year it's all focused on dark chocolate. Switzerland is the guest country at this the 3rd such sweet event, and will exhibit world famous Swiss chocolates, plus several sweets manufactures from Switzerland will introduce themselves and aim to entertain visitors with lectures and product demos.

In the first year of this now popular festival, Sarah Jane Evans, co-founder of London’s Chocolate Academy, was the guest of honour. Last year it was chocolate guru Chloé Doutre Roussel, who works as the expert of London’s venerated Fortnum & Mason department store among other things.

This year our invitation was accepted by Chantal Coady, who is a co-founder of London’s Rococo chocolate store and the Chocolate Academy in London. Chantal will hold lectures and autograph her book titled Chocolate, also available in Hungary.

These visits show that Sweet Days is more than just a “choco festival”; it is an important Hungarian event showcasing sweets products, which sets a direction for the consumption of sweets and chocolate with its high standards, keeping today’s trends and brands in view.

The professional standing of the event is best proved by the fact that this year Sweet Days is an official, jointly organised field event of OMÉK (National Agriculture and Food Exhibition).

The festival will feature well-known Hungarian artisan chocolate and sweets manufacturers, previously unknown novelties, delicacies and such confectionaries and ice cream parlours that have deservedly become famous in the past years and decades.

As it is a festival, we naturally have to be prepared with such a gastronomic offer that will satisfy our visitors’ needs beyond all the sweets; there will also be a pavilion selling hot dishes so they have more than just chocolate and sweets to fill themselves. We would like to break with the tradition that festivals only offer mostly fat and heavy hot dishes. At our event, several smaller units/restaurants of high standard will offer their products so the family won’t have to go home for lunch or dinner.

Thanks to the noble wines and excellent cocktails, a long time can be spent in an environment, where chocolate and sweets may be the main attraction but visitors can experience a complete gastronomic journey in a good company and pleasant environment. Dietetic advisory and the lecture of a well-known toxicologist will let visitors know where the healthy limits are and what they need to take care of when they consume their favourite sweets.

During the day there will be countless family programs, where children will get special attention. All the really sweet programs, praline and chocolate manufacturing shows, workshops and exhibitions will ensure a whole day’s program, while the music performances and the concerts at night will entertain visitors until midnight.
