Fado is a typical Portuguese form of music characterized by mournful tunes and lyrics, often about the sea or the life of the poor, more generally about passion and fate, in one word. LIFE. Or we can say: Fado is fate- expressed in songs.Joana Amendoeira is a one of the best known young fado singers. She was only 13 when she won the national fado competition (Grande Noite do Fado) organized in Portó in 1995. Since then she has become well known not just in her home country but also all over the world.
Her first appearance in front of an international audience was in Budapest in 1998 when she was only 17. This was followed by several other concerts and albums in Europe as well as on the American continent.
On her latest album she is accompanied by the Mar Ensemble.
