Korean - East European Cooperation

Korean - East European Cooperation
"The September 18 concert of MÁV Symphony Orchestra, as well as Korean-Hungarian cultural cooperation were the issues discussed at the press conference held at the Palace of Arts on September 17, where representatives of the press were briefed by Meno Music Ltd., MÁV Symphony Orchestra, Fidelio Media Ltd. and the Palace of Arts.

As the first speaker, András Csonka, deputy general manager of the Palace of Arts underlined that the management of the Palace of Arts always welcomed the appearance of foreign guest artists performing with Hungarian orchestras at the Palace.

The September 18 concert – featuring director of Meno Music Ltd, Korean Young Chil Lee as conductor as well as two foreign soloists – is a prestigious overture at the beginning of the season. Korea has given a growing number of artists to the world, two of whom the Hungarian audience will have the chance to meet at the Thursday concert, he said.

Young Chil Lee expressed thanks to the Palace of Arts hosting the concert and to the organisers of the concert in his double quality: as the director of Meno Music Ltd. and as the conductor. Meno Music Ltd. was founded last year with the aim of fostering cultural cooperation between Eastern Europe and South Korea. South Korea and Eastern Europe are far away from and at the same time close to each other.

European classical music tradition in Korea has only a 50 years’ past because of which there is a need for Korean and European musicians to work together regularly. We do not know each other’s artists or music but, if Meno Music fills its mission, this situation will change in a few years, Young Chil Lee pointed out."
